As you can see in figure A, haphazardly throwing mesculin mix lettuce seeds ontop of my makeshift compost pit has led to a fantastic yield. I'm wondering though, when should I thin them (or can I get away with not doing that)? How should I go about thinning to maximize yield and minimize exposed ground?
