Blasting out MAXIMUM POWER all the fucking time just kills your battery and doesn't improve performance at all if you're able to make the connection with a lower power.
Pisses me off sometimes, how nearly every radio manufacturer/model defaults to high power for every fucking channel unless you manually change it to low. Should default to low and require an action to go high.
Good test equipment will give you a µV/M power reading. If you know the distance to the transmitting antenna, you can calculate ERP from that value, and if you know/estimate what antenna's radiating, you can estimate a transmitter power from that.
