Has anyone here used a Vario axe by Helco? It's a 4lb (1800 gram) felling axe with a 36" handle. I'm thinking about getting one because I like the look and it's about $40 cheaper than a comparable Wetterling.

I don't know that particular axe, but I have an Estwing with the stacked leather handles. If you're not accustomed to using striking tools you may find the shock that the metal handle doesn't absorb to be uncomfortable.
