nothing really stops the water getting in.
if it's bog, or 60mph wind and rain, you can barely stop it. something like a waterproof coat over waders might work, but i expect rocks/twigs will puncture it in a trench, and your own sweat will make you wet inside.
I kept my torso mostly dry with a waterproof jacket recently up a mountain in >60mph wind and rain. the sweat made my chest/back more wet than anything.
all else: total wet out. the best answer is: have dry gear to change into and a dry space. elevate yourself out of the bog. make drainage trenches, make platforms.
I think it's better to focus on ways to keep dry/stay out of the bog, and dry off after getting wet, rather than gear.
