Has anybody ever seen a plant similar to this or have any about its edibility? Pic related was taken last August so I don't have access to a similar plant right now but I will revisit the area to see if some have reseeded. I've grown tomatillos and ground cherries(not near this area) so the husks stood out to me as a relative of one of these. I didn't expect nightshade family plants to thrive in the wild here in northern Iowa. Plants fascinate me. This brings me to another thought-Should I try to introduce ground cherries and tomatillos to the area? I already have tomatillo volunteers that I cut down rooting in water and can probably plant those and some ground cherry cuttings with some compost or just plant tomatillo seeds/ground cherry seeds and hope for the best. Would it be worthwile to even try something like a wilder cherry tomato variety? It would be nice to have some "wild" edibles to come back to in that area every year.
