It's a Knives of Alaska Cub Bear caping knife in D2. I've reprofiled it to have no secondary bevel just a flat grind and a very small convex for durability and added some jimping for wet handling. If I'm carving all day on soft wood, I'll only need to strop it when I'm done to get it back to easily hair shaving sharp. If I'm using it on hard wood like seasoned mesquite or old oak, then I might touch it up every couple of hours. D2 is pretty abrasion resistant. You'll need Diamond hones to sharpen it, files and stones just skate right off it. Other knives that I've had in D2 like the ontario rat 1 are chippy but not KOA. Their heat treat is solid. They say it's 59-61 HRC but mine feels harder than that. It's American made with a lifetime warranty, granted I've probably voided mine with the jimping and removing the ricasso but I'm not worried about it, it was fine before, but I wanted it thinner.
