They found natural gas and now land prices have absolutely skyrocketed. That same land can sell for over $100K. With property tax it can add up and be well over $450 a month.
Remember also that if you have an RV on that land you still need to have a septic put in, or have a septic company come pump out your tanks every few days. Add in the cost of heat and electric, along with having no water hook up and having to try and fill your fresh water tank every few days, it can get expensive.
My advice OP, don't do it. Cheap campers always leak, and in the winter they need lots of extra insulation under them with heat running constantly to keep the plumbing from freezing, and still will be cold if it's a cheap camper.
I have an RV, it's new, about 30ft travel trailer. I love it, but I'd never live in it over the winter. Pic related.
