as all generators have an inverter to change the generated DC current to
AC current compatible with conventional home electrical appliances.
As far as camping; unless you have a camper and are going to be out in
the woods for a week+, you don't need a generator and even then, you're
probably better off with an AGM battery power pack, recharging it off your
vehicle as needed.
One thing to keep in mind with all the sensitive electronics in use nowadays,
like iPhones, GPS, laptops, etc. is to make sure the inverter used (both for
generators and battery packs) is a pure sine wave type, otherwise you'll likely
have issues with those sensitive electronics and may even fuck them up.
