This is the "driveable trail" i.e. unmaintained ungraveled road (boggs ridge) that leads eventually into a trail (I dunno if there's a gate or it just ends) and the trail takes you 900 vertical ft down to the base of the holler, though apparently it has been rerouted to 100 ft above the creek to avoid getting flooded out and is in terrible shape.
There's usually a closed gate but since it's fall, the gate was open and I got to drive to where there's a pullout at an intersection with an abandoned ATV track. One source said to hike on the ATV track, but that's stupid. The ATV track is in shitty shape. Just walk down the road until you line up with the overlook, then you have to blaze downhill into the forest to get to it - there's absolutely no trail whatsoever.
I'm not sure when the gate closes, but I recommend going there nowish to not have to hike the extra mile each way from the gate - it's a steep hike.
