>>1442751>>1442832i caught pic related on one, it still felt as good as brand new after, and still does now.
>>1442866>much softer actioni beg to differ. there are fly rods everywhere from super soft glass to stiff extra fast distance machines that send fly lines in excess of 300 miles per hour (though that speed is quickly lost to wind resistance and the line dragging through the guides). i don't think soft is a good word to describe fly rods on the whole, and the fact that long, light, and soft spinning rods exist, i would say that the only -real- difference is that a fly rod casts a heavy line while a near-weightless lure is dragged along for the ride, and a spinning rod casts a relatively dense and heavy lure or bait that then drags a near weightless line along for the ride.
>>1443073going out on any water craft is an inherent risk. it's not the vehicle that's stupid, it's the operator.
>>1443119takedowns are worth while, telescoping is not. and its not a bad idea at all, anon. get something in the way of a 6 foot to 7 foot medium-light power to medium power range, 3 or 4 pieces, an appropriate reel (i'd probably go for something in the 2500 size range) spooled with either 6 or 8 pound test mono. while you're buying that, buy a plano box, and some stuff to go in it. i'll give you a basic list to get you started
>needle nose pliersnot optional, you -will- need them sooner or later. you can go for a multi tool but they aren't as nice and sometimes wont work for getting a hook out of a fish.
>forceps. optionalsupplement your needle nose pliers with these for the smallest of small fish
>jigheads, various sized and colours>curly tail grubs, various sizes and coloursthese things catch fish all over the country, there's a reason they're bloody everywhere.
>small cranksit's hard to go wrong with these. cast out, retrieve, repeat until you catch a fish.
>assorted aberdeen hooks, assorted splitshot, bobbersdrowning worms near structure is hard to get wrong.
