I've watched them bury themselves in the weeds and vegetation and I can't help but wonder what would happen if I stepped on one like a land mine. keeping all my toes is preferable.
oh, and I forgot to mention my local park's an eastern massasauga rattlesnake reserve. I see those bastards wriggling through the water every now and then. feel like I've already settled on being a cheap-ass and going for neoprene leggings, but fuck me I'd feel a lot safer with a layer of rubber.

at least I think it's a crappie. confirmation/ID appreciated, as would be any advice on what to do if I ever end up in a situation like this again. I'm sure there's some trick I don't know about that'd avoid having to cut the fish's lip.
