I have a few Filson pants and the Filson x Danner boots. Although I'm sure Danner has a similar history of as much as I saw them ride the meme wave in Japan and still see those red laces at yuppie "outdoor" stores.
I used to buy Carhartt/surplus schlock and appreciate (the image of) something being well made. Totally got swept up in the quality of Americana memes overseas and recalled Filson being the meme brand of 2010 'workwear' hype.
Filson has hit the Barbour/Fossil et al stride ^poster pointed out, and a new generation of 30 year old boomers who can now afford the 'high end masculine' memes of earlier years (myself included) are shelling out the big bucks.
I don't delude myself into thinking any of their clothes are workwear-ready, they look nice and, (maybe not by say, this year) outside of Portland, stand out as well-made Americana clothes.
