And another one from Paps - a shepherd's axe (known in Poland as "ciupaga") - a light axe with a ~1m long haft, that doubles as a walking stick, especially useful in uneven terrain (such as the mountains). The haft ends with a metal "spur", just for that very purpose.
Also associated with highland robbers of Poland, and Slovakia (where it is known as a "valaska").
Pretty useful to have on a trek, even if you don't end up needing an axe, a walking stick is always handy when going uphill.
