>>2016960The policy of National is set by the directors. There's the Troop-Council-National level, as you know. Troops have enough autonomy to the point where they can make their own decisions to negate that of National. For example, the troop I was in that was more militaristic also did a lot of events with the National Guard also there. It wasn't a violation of Scouting's non-association with the military though, because officially the events were not related on paper. As I said, that Boy Scout troop operated a lot more like JROTC in many ways, as most of the adult leaders were military parents.
What's happening to the BSA is merely a symptom of what's happening to EVERY Western organization. Culture shift. We as the Right-Wingers do not hold any meaningful institutional power anymore, so we've just got to preserve our traditions and values on our own, locally.
For us as scouts, that means we should take by the organization at the smallest level, troop by troop. Put our own kids into the traditionalist, Christian troops, run using the original Scout Handbooks.
