this is a high water year for L.ont and that means places like the marina have a lot of flooded rocks and shrubs up high on the banks which often leads to unusual situations developing like a few years ago I saw a green sunfish spawning between some rocks that are normally about a foot above water but created a perfect little shelter just for a fish of such a size.
I tell you that ministry of natural resources should do more to create habitat for fish on the shorelines. There needs to be more shoreline cover and cover at different depths because the water level changes so much but there are no flood plains. fish like that would normally flourish in the flood plains and hide from big predators while still having the chance to feed and grow.
but that fish is almost 100% dead by now because of gobys and rock bass...
but there's another little spot that i've found fingerling pike during high water years i'm going to check maybe this weekend although its cold and overcast which is not great
