I am woefully underprepared due but definitely ahead of the curve which is the best I can hope for. Due to the nature of my career I have basically been homeless for 10 years. I live on the road and in hotels for most of the year, I spend about 6 to 8 weeks a year at "home". My life is mostly compressed down to two suitcases and a backpack. I never know where I will be more than a week in advanced.
My preps are based around short term survival in case of natural disaster or being able to nope out of a civil disturbance or the like. Luckily, I am generally pretty remote and in small towns so the later isn't too much of a issue.
My EDC stuff is pretty basic. Carry a milwaukee razor/screw driver or pocket knife depending on what I am doing. Butane lighter, ankle med kit consisting of a israeli bandage gloves, TQ, and shears.
Some things I always have with me when I travel are a little different.
My carry on bag is a Savotta Jakkari M with the internal frame and a bladder. If I need to walk out of somewhere, a decent pack and a bladder is an obvious must have.
Clothing items I always travel with are a wool jacket, a watchcap, oilskin hat, and I wear merino wool socks year round. I have shoulder length hair and usually keep it in a short pony tail so I always have hair bands. Protip: Hair bands are also good to keep around regardless because you can use them to blouse your boots if you are in tick prone areas.
