>where you live
San Diego. I'm stationed on MCAS Miramar. It's funny, a lot of people don't think of Bass when they think of San Diego county, but with Lower Otay, Lake Barret, El Capitan Reservoir, and Diamond Valley Lake, we have some pretty decent fisheries around here.
>what you fish for
Bass, mostly. Occasional pier and surf fishing with my Dad (he lives in Chula Vista), but Bass are my favored target.
>favorite piece of tackle right now
Right now the hot ticket are the 4 inch margarita mutilator RoboWorms on dropshot rigs. Dropshotting isn't really my favorite tactic (too slow for me), but it's working. As far as a favorite, I haven't been hitting the water often enough to have one. I just ordered a Crankbait rod and reel setup and some crankbaits from Bass Pro. With the fish getting into the post-spawn, I'm itching to try some cranking.
>catch and release or keep and eat
Depends. If I'm Bass fishing, catch & release only (Don't like the taste of Bass so much). If I'm lucky enough to get out trout fishing, I'm definitely keeping. Those are some good eats!
The left rod is a 7' M-H/F Cabela's Pro Guide with an Abu Garcia BlackMaxx 2 6.4:1. My worm/jig rod. The right rod is a 6' Med/MF ugly Stik with an Abu Garcia Cardinal S30, my finesse rod.
