This is a Brown Trout, 18" long, 3.2 pounds. I caught it under a pedestrian bridge in my hometown while a couple of people watched. It jumped off the hook, but I tackled it before it could get back in the water. Then I turned to the people watching, the fish struggling against me in my arms, and asked them if they knew what type of fish this was. After neither of them answered, I ran back to my backpack and retrieved my fishing regulations while the fish flopped around on the ground next to me. After I identified the fish's species and confirmed it's legality, I beat it to death with a 1/2" socket wrench extender and gutted it. It now exists in three quart bags in my freezer.
I'm kinda new to fishing. Haven't gone in something like 13 years, when I was a child, but after a success like this, I may be "hooked".
