I did some tallying of what the small farm has grown this year. Over 3,100lbs of food in 2017 to Nov 1st, worth just under $17k locally.
Nearly 400lbs of tomatoes.
Over 160lbs of potatoes.
Nearly 1 ton of pumpkins.
Nearly 200lbs of summer squashes
Nearly 250lbs of apples.
Over 100lbs of onions.
Lots and lots of other stuff not really worth mentioning.
I still have a fair amount of potatoes to dig up. Some carrots and burdock too. Lots of salad greens like chard, chickweed, lettuce, and plantains. I need to go through and harvest all the immature nasturtium seed pods so I can pickle them for poorman's capers.
I sorted all the saved potatoes today. High humidity and poor airflow to prevent light reaching them caused most of the potatoes to sprout. I removed all the sprouts and divided them up according to size and sprout size as to what can be eaten and should not eaten. I think I'm going to plant the sprouts and see if I can easily overwinter them, though it will be a challenge. I think I'll be expanding the potato planting to a much larger area next year.
