>>1110564MariagerAnon I assume? (I remember you said before you wanted to catch mackerel)
Where and how is on the image. In case the image is unclear the method I find to be the most efficient is the good old float 'n' hook. They also take spoons, wobblers etc. but I like the float. Nostalgia, relaxing in the sun and whatnot.. Hook baited with a strip of herring. Usually no more than 7cm long and 2cm wide but normally smaller.
Depth about as deep as I can get it. My rods have rather small guides so a float stop would be unhandy so usually I can't get deeper than 3m. Depth depends on the day and where you are ofc. Mackerel can be found at any depth so it depends on the day I guess.
The tricky part is usually finding them. They come in schools so you can sit and fish for days on end with no fish at all then all of the sudden when a school passes by you can catch over 9000 in 5minutes.
As for what to look for in a good spot I don't really know actually. I guess a bit of depth is good but don't know. Haven't bothered to read up on it as I've caught mackerel almost every time I targeted them. One thing I did read though was that murky water is supposed to be bad as a) they hunt by eyesight and b) the gills are very fine and getting sand and shit in there is annoying. They also like to swim around with their mouths wide open eating plankton.
If it's you MariagerAnon, better hurry. Season is coming to an end. Don't know where it would be good near you though.
