And buying a cheap setup is fine if you're a casual fisherman, but I fish almost every day whenever I can and I've found that you usually do get what you pay for. A nice reel is worth every cent after lobbing big baits all day spending 5% of your time fishing untangling knots or setting up a cast is fine if you fish for 10 hours a month, but on weekends I fish 10 hours a day and that's a lot of downtime. My cheap rods ended up breaking. My cheap reels can't cast where I want it to. Some things you can cheap out on but definitely not a reel if you're using it a lot.
