I decided to plant some of the garden much earlier than usual, partly because I'm not going to do many starter plants. All 4 rows of carrots in, a row each of swiss chard and beets, 2 rows of beans, and all my left over bean seeds from last year spread around the compost bin.
The top inch of soil always dries out super fast, covering the rows keeps the ground moist and vastly improves germination rate, particularly for carrots.
The peas I planted last week are starting to emerge.
I'll start cucumbers and squash indoors right away. And wait at least another week before picking up some tomato starter plants.
