Obviously, the Ape guys think it must have come over during the ice age the same way humans did, and the schizos think they're not apes at all, but are some sort of anomalous creature that pops in and out of portals or some shit to explain why we can't catch them and why there are no bones. My opinion is that if it were an ordinary animal, an ape or even a sub-human, we would've found something by now, so if it does exist, it must be something "other."
