>>216721>Since when do elk and bison live in TN?I don't know how long it's been going on for the bison, but there's been a bison range and effort to rebuild the local population ever since I was really young so bare minimum 10 years, though I know it's been a lot more. That's over in Middle Tennessee (where I'm from) at Land Between the Lakes where bison originally lived before being hunted and almost going extinct.
>ElkNow this is pretty new actually. I don't know how recently, but the Smoky Mountain National Park has been working on rebuilding the population in the Smokies too. Like the bison, elk had lived there originally but were heavily hunted. Whenever I'm up in the Smokies fishing I see elk (some tagged, others not) along the road up to Balsam Mtn. You can even see them come down into Cherokee Reservation. It's pretty cool, last fly fishing trip I was on I was literally 200ft from about 8 elk that came mozying on through the river.
