Anyway yesterday I went into the back country and it was a disaster.
Couldn't find the trail, six hour hike into nowhere in particular, tent got bogged after heavy rain, moved tent in pitch black/rain using a flaming stick, set fire to a shirt I was drying in the morning, soaked in three layers of cotton.
But I'm not giving up, got some soviet maps that are much more usable, buying a rain proof gorka, I'm confident I can filter water with charcoal and it's pretty clean here anyway if you find a spring.
Yesterday found A FUCKING SAWMILL in an abandoned coal mining area I could probably power with a horse (albeit slowly because it's geared )
Trying to decide on bladed tools, pack weight is becoming a real concern
Next task is practicing making pine tar, anyone have good resources and indications of yield?
