>>437833>.260 RemingtonI second this. .260 is the god tier 6.5x55 on a necked down .308 casing so you get the glorious bullet coefficient that the 6.5x55 has which is so effective people have been hunting elk/moose with it in Scandinavian for over 100 years and since it's on a .308 casing it has that short action accuracy (if you believe in that sort of thing)
IMO 30-06 is overkill for deer and pigs, but its most likely going to be more cost effective than .260. I think that 7mm-08 should also be considered. At 120grains it has the same velocity as a 25-06 (as mentioned above) of the same weight but where it shines is it uses the proven 7x57 bullet on a necked down .308 casing.
