These are great jackets. I bought one before they exploded in popularity. They're a major major fashion piece in Toronto (and other cities) these days.
It's a bit sad to see, and makes me want to tear the patch off of mine. But these guys have been making quality parkas for decades. In Canada they have been the go to brand for working people in the north for a long time, but more recently the son in the family took over the business and has really pushed to popularize these coats - and he has succeeded. He has said that he now wants to hit the Chinese market to make these fashionable there.
You could applaud the entrepreneurial spirit, but I don't.
I do love mine, and what's great is you can throw it on with a t-shirt underneath and run outside for a while and be comfy. No need to layer up -- obviously layering is best for many situations.
If you are living/working somewhere legitimately cold then fur cannot be beat. Look at the Iditarod/dog sled guys, they're all wearing fur.
