I'm considering dipping my toes into both fly fishing and pole fishing. I've found a cheapo but well-reviewed telescopic "tenkara" pole on amazon that's apparently quite sturdy and sensitive for a ~$20 chinese bootleg, and I feel like this could be a cheap way to learn a bit about both styles before sinking money into a real fly rod and/or good pole. Any advice from fly fishermen and/ or pole fishermen in the thread on whether or not this is an awful idea?
