Biggest carp I've caught so far. Put up a hell of a fight. Snapped my landing net too. The mat is 60 cm across if that gives you an idea. Using a 1 oz swim feed with tutti fruity pop up boilies and bloodworm and krill ground bait. Didn't weigh him but I'd estimate 25lb's.
As for tips I'd always catch casting into a shaded area beneath an overhanging tree when it's sunny. And setting the hair rig a little longer than you'd think. Maybe 6 - 8 inches. Instead of the 4 that some people recommend. Also don't be too eager and snatch the rod for a nibble.
