Ok I've got one, from when I was on a trail maintenance crew in Klamath Nat'l Forest:
>First weekend out in a 6 month "deployment"
>About a dozen of us head out together
>Get to where we want to camp for the night with maybe an hour of daylight left
>Bit overcast but otherwise nice and warm
>Set pack down, realize I have to take a shit
>Head off into trees to do mah business
>By the time I come back, it's raining/snowing and there's an inch of snow on the ground
>WTF weather?!
>Didn't bring tent, just a 8x10 tarp and my sleeping bag
>No time to set up shelter, just set my tarp down, put my sleeping back in it and fold tarp over like a giant taco
>Over course of the night sink into the sandy soil which causes all of the water to flow into my sleeping spot
>Coldest, wettest, most miserable night of my life
At least it made for a good story/learning experience. My mates and I got a fire going the next morning and dried all of our shit out. Wasn't a big deal, but holy shit, the weather change out there caught me by such surprise that season. That wasn't the last time that the weather shit on us either.
