>>243406Boots ... Sled-specific boots will usually have more durable soles. Your typical "winter boots" have pretty soft rubber soles that get torn to shit on the running boards in a season.
As with the outerwear, waterproof and breatheable. Goretex/eVent is your friend.
Gloves. I carry a heavier insulated pair of snowmobile gloves for the trail ride in/out, but as soon as I drop into the pow those come off and I'm rocking thin motorcycle gloves. Mechanix work pretty well too. I've found the lightweight streetbike gloves work really well for me in the snow and dirt, and at $30/pair they're cheap enough to replace every year or two.
Don't forget your avalanche gear in the mountains. Beacon, shovel, probe, and knowledge on how to effectively use them. I also strongly recommend an airbag pack, know guys who are alive today because of them.
Also consider protective gear. I don't ride without a snocross tekvest and knee guards. Helps with keeping you warm too.
When it comes to gear/equipment, i've found it usually takes a few iterations to find what works for you. The gear you start the season with may not be what you end the season with as you figure out what does and doesn't work for you.
