>>136906>Hey, if you have healthy show dogs then more power to you. Just be aware that they're the exception and not the rule.Because showing is my hobby, I have lots of contact with other breeders. I go to shows about once a month, or roughly ten times a year. I have been showing for several years. I am more aware of the dog (and cat) breeding world than most.
Are there unethical breeders involved in showing? Yes, but the number of good people breeding healthy dogs far outweigh the number of those showing and producing unhealthy pups.
The exact opposite is true of those who don't show but breed anyway. Back yard breeders do everyone a disservice. The entire point of a dog show is to evaluate breeding stock. BYB's don't care how healthy and sound their dogs are, they breed for the money. Very few BYB's show their dogs.
