>>496256>How difficult is it to ride a horse? Not very.
But I've been riding horses since before I could walk, so...
You'll want some experience before you take off on a big adventure. You're not just sitting down on a la-z-boy. Work up to it, and get to know the horse. Some form of instruction will help prevent from learning bad habits.

>>496607>Would it be safe to ride without stirrups do you don't get dragged along when riding across difficult terrain?I rode with a bareback pad all the time. Just a pad with a girth. You'll work leg muscles you never knew you had doing that.
I don't ride much anymore, my toys nowadays burn fuel instead of hay. Still get out once or twice a year though.
