>>760160>Camping trip Black River, AZ>Must enter San Carlos Apache Reservation>We have guide books, GPS, Google Earthed the fuck out of everything>All that prep goes out the window when we enter rez wilderness>Nothing is marked as it "should" be or marked at all>Roads on topos don't exist>Spend hours trying to find the one trail that takes us north to the river>Cousin's Jeep is guzzling fuel but we have jerry cans>Encounter signs that are laying on the ground, signs that spin>Each forest trail leads to a junction, then to another junction, repeat, repeat>Feel like we are playing choose your own adventure>We are now 5 hours past our planned arrival time>Take this faint track down, looks like it will lead to river>No river but we enter this idyllic meadow instead>As we enter two cranes lift off and flay away from a small tank(pond)>High slopes on all sides only one way int>This place is beautiful and peaceful, wildflowers everywhere>Totally still, quiet, no wind whatsoever>We regroup our convoy and plan next move>As my cuz is moving his jeep around we hear this loud crunch>Look down and realize he has just run over a pile of bones>We all laugh to ourselves, then my other cousin says look>The entire meadow is covered in scattered sun bleached bones>Spines, femurs, skulls, random unidentifiable bones everywhere>Instant creep the fuck out, hair on back of neck standing on edge>The mood shifts from peace to near panic>We bug the fuck out of there and never look backThe forests of San Carlos Apache Country are spooky beyond belief. Very beautiful but couldn't shake this feeling we were being watched even though we were totally alone for four days.
