I'm thinking about going no-till this year. What are your thoughts on using cardboard to block out the weeds?
I used a "special" paper mulch last year to keep the weeds at bay, but it started degrading about two months into the growing season, and by mid-summer, it was entirely gone. It worked well for the time it was on the ground, but I figured something thicker like cardboard would do a better job lasting the entire season, and it'd be a cheaper alternative since I've got tons of it lying around.

Also, why the fuck are watermelons so hard for me to grow?
What's the trick?
They're slow growing, and each plant only produces one small fruit that's not even worth the time, effort, and more importantly space in the garden. I have no problems with other plants, aside from the occasional pest. I'm in growing zone 6a.
Lastly, any good guides for grape vine pruning?
I planted three grape vines last spring and am not quite sure how far down to prune the little guys going into their second year.
