>>19174> How much did you pay for your postie bike? What kind of licence did you need?I bought it from a motorbike dealer in Maitland for $1900 back in 2009, and the rego+insurance+etc was another 250 or so. Getting it from a licenced bike dealer has the advantage of a statutory 3 months warranty (for all 2nd-hand bikes <5 years old and less than 30,000 kms, at least in NSW) ...and it's just as well I did, as the stator/alternator crapped-out 2 months and 3 weeks after I bought it-- and I got it replaced under warranty.
My CT is a 2007 model (there's pre-1999 and post-1999 CTs when it comes to parts). One of the best sites for scoping out the Postie market is
http://store.onetenmotorcycles.com.au .. They're a Queensland shop, but they're a good benchmark for prices and such-- although obviously having mates with sources will be cheaper. Posties 'fresh from auction' are usually bought for $1200-$1400, and there's LOLCAPITALISM (and actual servicing, blue-slipping, etc.) on top of that. Still, you can find a "2nd-hand" ex-auction Postie for around $400-$1400, depending on condition.
You could try asking your local motorbike shops how often they get CTs traded-in when the owner gets another bike. (The Honda dealer here in Parramatta has always more than 6 Posties for sale at any time.)
