4: Bring a friend: That can be a dog or someone from work. The more warm bodies you pile into a tent the warmer you'll be.
5: External heating: Be it a bonfire or a hot water bottle in your sleeping bag, nothing beats extra heat.
For portable heaters, the quick solution will be a chemical heating pad. Those are not cheap and are single use, but are good for short term emergencies until you get something better. If you have time then hot water bottles are great.
