The Pacific isn't as deep as the Atlantic on average but the seafloor of the Pacific Ocean can fit all of the Earth's land surface area inside it (all the surface continents can fit in the pacific ocean). It's also 2-4 items farther distance to reach land depending on if you're northern or southern hemisphere Pacific. The easiest way to run a small sailboat across the pacific is to make a dog leg to Hawaii then follow the island chains north to Japan and then go around Japan to reach mainland Asia (or you can take the northern route which has more storms). If you get stranded or lost in the middle of the Pacific it could take weeks for a rescue ship to reach you, or a rescue plane to find you.
Pic related, they were stranded for 5 months adrift in the Pacific and were never closer than 900 miles to land, but were luckily rescued by the US Navy.
