I'm gonna be fishing Lake Pontchartrain in a month or so with a group of buddies and need way to get a steady supply of bait, targeting speckled trout, black drum, and redfish primarily so shrimp, blue crab as well as mullet and shiners will be our ideal baits
I'm from a state where trapping and cast netting is illegal (MN) but these are undoubtedly the best and cheapest ways to get in-season bait on saltwater. Does anyone have any experience with these cheap chinkshit traps I found someone dropshipping on ebay?
We also have a 7' cast net already and may pick up a second but I'm mostly wondering if the umbrella style ones are too fragile to be practical, and if the hoop/tube ones reliably catch crabs with less openings for them to climb in.
also, hi-vis line: meme for boomer with cataracts or actually worth it? considering we'll be running 3+ rods per person when shore fishing it might be worthwhile just to avoid crosses, just tie on a clear lead, only issue is I couldn't find it in suitable bulk to bring the price down
