>>454333>>454337Ha, yeah that's it! I never knew what to call it. That picture might be exactly what we had actually, but I barely remember it. The "produced until the 1990s" fits with when I'd have had one too. I think I only ever "played" with it once (which is a bit of a worrying term when it comes to guns thinking about it). I distinctly remember my dad taking me to shoot cans with it.
>>454341Nah the shuttlecock shape was like this pic.
The rumour sounds familiar, and it wouldn't surprise me. Metal pellets shot with a high powered spring, and highly inaccurate? That's a stray shot taking out someone's eye at the very least. I remember being told I couldn't play with it again because it had been banned, at least that's what my dad told me.
>>454335The wiki says they were for the fairgrounds originally, so yeah I see no problem with them being banned. It was for the best. We don't have land to hunt on in the UK (unless you're a landowner, in which case you probably own a proper gun for hunting anyway). These would just be used by chavs to intimidate, play with or worse. I only brought it up in this thread because I trust someone in /out/ would want one to hunt small game responsibly, and it or something similar might be a viable option (and less likely to hurt themselves than with a slingshot I guess).
