At my cottage we have a little walk-in porch/mud room. There are windows and a door leading into it then a closed door into the rest of the building.
We were having a bear problem that summer; We saw a ton of bears around the property and one night a bear broke down a shed because there was live bait in coolers inside.
Anyway, one night my dad and I heard something shatter as though someone broke a big window. Run to the door to check and there is a bear that broke through the window and managed to get itself inside the closed in porch.
Now this bear, which was leaving visible blood smears on the ground obviously from the class, was stuck inside our porch at 1am.
Didn't know what to do and the bear could have broken into the rest of the building.
OPP came, they opened up the outside door, the bear didn't move. just stayed inside the porch with its head in a bag of dogfood.
Finally like 2 hours later of playing a waiting game with the door open and the bear inside animal control drove like 200km to get the bear. Shot the bear with a dart of some kind, took the 2 animal control guys and the 2 OPP officers to get the bear onto a big stretcher. Put it in the back of a big truck. My dad filled in a bunch of paper work to both the OPP and Animal control. Animal control people give us an invoice.
I wish I had a copy of it because it literally said
"Bear removal $300"
"tranquilliser $100" or something along those lines.
Either way it cost us $400 to move the bear. Worth the story though. This happened like 10 years ago.
tl;dr: bear broke into my porch, made itself at home, got booked by cops and animal control people. It was also a black bear.
