Was born and lived in NYC, moved away a few months after I turned 18 to a town in southern Sweden of around 30,000. Too big.
Moved to a school on the outskirts of a town in central Sweden of just over 5,000 (The high school I went to has nearly 6,000 students) Nice place and only a 2 hour drive to the mountains/fjäll. Still too many people.
Got a job in northern Sweden 170km from the nearest town with 6 employees and maybe 50 Sami in the area during the summer. Not bad at all.
Looking forward to being a very remote cabin warden in a few years, the pay is mediocre but the solitude except for occasional guests will be paradise.
