I had about 30 minutes until sunset, so I started on a fire. I wanted to try my hand at a fire bow. For the Bow I tied paracord to green driftwood that was flexible. I tried using a clam shell I found as the Socket, It broke. I tried using a rock, but there was too much friction between the spindle and rock. I eventually bore a hole into a piece of driftwood. This worked fine. I was able to make the wood warm, but there was no smoke or embers. My spindle broke, I would have continued but the sun was quickly setting and the bugs were starting to swarm. I used flint and steel to great success. I was able to light the kindling in about 30 seconds. The previously mentioned plant was like gasoline, I will look for it in the future.
