Soft Star runamoc dash is now my go to shoe for hiking. They look kinda weird and feel unusual at first, but found I can literally walk all day in these and feel fine. I got the stock black ones so I did't pay extra for custom colors (and can wear them passing as office shoes), but green is my favorite color and these look great to me.
Screw hiking boots, its like locking your foot in a cast and clomping around. If you don't hurt your feet in hiking boots like I did last summer, you're bound to twist an ankle or take a bad fall at some point. I used to enjoy hiking in Asics trainers, but after rehabilitating my feet I only wear zero drop barefoot style shoes. The make boots like that, but I really don't see the point. Maybe if you're in the snow but I'm in SoCal here.
