but whats against writers anyway? Surely you can recognise the power abbey can conjure with his writing. “get out of your car and walk. crawl if you have to. maybe when your arms and knees are bloodied with cactus thorn and scrub brush you will see something. probably not.” maybe you are missing it too if you cant see how impressionistic writing brings something out of the landscape that experience only cannot. i can spend every day in the desert looking at the carved sandstone but a georgia okeefe painting of the same will move me that much more. artists have their place
