>>1979850They're eastern fence lizards. In my area there's not any lizards so they probably ran away or got eaten. I go down south to the pine barrens to catch them, and next year I plan on expanding the sand pit and catching at least a dozen to get a population going. A herpetologist did the same a couple decades ago in New York and they're still there like fifty years later, so I know it's possible for them to get established in north NJ.
