for the corners/reinforcements, i was thinking to just cut some heavy duty canvas and stitch it around the edges, then put a nice cross in the middle. finally hem the whole thing up together. throw the whole assembly into a tub of silicone+mineral spirits and hang it up to dry
i'm no stranger to sewing n shiet, having done many button repairs, darning, and a couple of basic alterations by hand including on wool with wool thread. the machine itself is the big sticking point
