I am starting to believe that an 8 wt is not a serious surf fishing rod. I usually don't fish the surf until fall and use my 10 wt to deal with the wind but I've been surf fishing a considerable amount and find an 8 wt lacking in guts on all but the calmest days.
The issue is that a 10 wt is not the most enjoyable to fish all day. Are 9 weights a meme or will it have more balls than an 8 wt and be less of a beast to cast than a 10 wt?
