what you're using is more similar to concrete, and seems to be acting just as well
potting mix is already fine to use anyway, its got the 3 other things you listed, all you seemed to end up doing was the equivalent of adding flour, sugar, and baking powder to premade cakemix
clothes are also dark brown/black when wet, doesn't mean they're that color when dry, just like how your soil isn't "dark brown/black"
