There is a huge gulf between technical and non technical mountaineering and dumping tons of money into the more difficult and involved option immediately might not be the best idea. All non technical requires is a helmet, ice axe, and hiking crampons (I like the kahtoola k-10s), and perhaps a static line/tether, but really you should just try to build up confidence climbing smaller mountains even just by hiking up if you can. Rock climbing too but ultimately you will want to take a lead climbing class if you want to use those skills in the backcountry
